Uxbridge Road crash victim named

A MAN who died crossing a busy road on Friday evening has been named.

Surinder Singh, 43, who lives in Uxbridge, died from his injuries in hospital after he was in collision with a car on Uxbridge Road.

The accident happened at the Hillingdon end of Uxbridge Road near to the junction with Marlborough Road, Hillingdon on Friday at 9.05pm.

His next of kin identified his body at a post-mortem today (Tuesday) at Uxbridge Mortuary, and an inquest into his death has now been open.

The car Mr Singh was in collision with was a black Vauxhall Corsa, and the driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses to come forward.

FAMILY and friends of the a popular maternity nurse have raised donations totalling over £3,000 in her memory.

Angela Craven was well known in Hillingdon and regularly attended St John's Church, Royal Lane, Hillingdon, which was where her funeral was held when she recently died aged 76.

For many years she worked in the maternity ward at Hillingdon Hospital in Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, and only retired three years ago aged 73.

Angela also helped locally with social services working with the homeless and single parents and now those who knew her and worked with her have decided to give something back in her memory.

Over £1,500 will be presented to the Jubilee Trust Fund at Hillingdon Hospital Maternity Ward and an equal sum going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

A presentation is being held at Hillingdon Hospital on Thursday (30) where the cheque will be presented to the Head of Midwifery by Angela's husband Gervase Craven and Nigel Green-Smith of AV Smith & Sons, the funeral directors who arranged Angela's funeral and collected the donations from her friends and family.

A MAN in his forties has died after a car collided with him in Uxbridge on Friday evening (24 July).

The accident happened at the junction of Uxbridge Road, and Marlborough Road, Uxbridge at 9.07pm when a black Vauxhall Corsa collided with the pedestrian.

He was taken to Hillingdon Hospital in Pield Heath Road where he died shortly afterwards due to the injuries he sustained.

A post-mortem will take place but no details have so far been released.

No arrests have been made by Alperton Traffic Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward.

A TEENAGE driver charged with killing a man has had his trial date set.

Aidan James Bull, 19, of Old Hatch Manor, Ruislip, was charged with causing the death of Malcolm Robinson on Long Lane, Hillingdon, on November 13 last year by driving without due care and attention.

A pre-trial hearing is set for September 4 and the case will go to trial at Isleworth Crown Court on September 28.
