Poetry Corner- The Blind Date

Posted by Dan Coombs on Sep 25, 09 10:36 AM in Useful Info

THEY BOTH ARRANGED A BLIND DATE
THEY'D NEVER MET BEFORE
SHE SAID SHE'D MEET HIM AT THE PUB
HE THOUGHT "I'M GONNA SCORE"!

SHE SAID "I'LL WEAR A RED TOP"
YOU'LL RECOGNISE AND SEE
I'LL WAVE TO YOU SAT AT HE BAR
GUESS I'M YOUR DESTINY"

ARRIVING THERE THEN FOR HER DATE
SHE SAT THERE AT THE BAR AND
SPIED A YOUNG MAN SMILING THERE
AND WAVED TO HIM AFAR.

HE GLADLY THEN RETURNED HER SMILE
ADJUSTING THEN HIS TIE
HE THOUGHT "WELL THIS IS REALLY IT.
FOR ME TO DO OR DIE"

THEN AFTER BUYING HER A DRINK
(THIS WOMAN OF HIS DREAMS)
THEY SHORTLY LEFT BOTH ARM IN ARM
TO MEET THEIR FATE IT SEEMS.

BUT FROM THE BACK A YOUNG MAN SPIED
A SMILING WAVING MAID
AND PROMPTLY WENT TO MEET HIS DATE
NOT KNOWING SHE HAD STRAYED.

BUT SATISFIED THO' NONETHELESS
ROMANCE JUST GREW AND GREW
WITH TRUE LOVE BLOOMING AT FIRST SIGHT
NOT KNOWING WHO FROM WHO

AND THINKING 'TWAS THEIR DESTINY
WITH SOULMATE ALL ALONG
SEEMS DESTINY MADE A MISTAKE
SEEMS MR RIGHT WAS WRONG?
