AN INVESTIGATIVE journalist notorious for going undercover with football thugs took in far more friendly surroundings when he presented a school with a new bus.

Donal MacIntyre was chosen to present Hillingdon Manor School, in Harlington Road, Hillingdon, with their new 'Sunshine Bus' courtesy of DeVere Hotels.

As well as appearing on Dancing on Ice, MacIntyre also conducted a series of documentaries on learning disabilities.

minnie.jpgTHE case of a man convicted over the death of teenager Simmone Hedges is still without resolution after the final court date descended into a farce.

Rati Suladze, 35, of The Larches, Hillingdon, was set to be sentenced today (Wednesday) after being convicted of failing to stop and failing to report an accident after Simmone was run over and killed on November 21 last year.

THIS is the final week for entries into the Uxbridge Gazette's eighth annual Local Heroes awards, which recognises ordinary people who deserve credit for doing good deeds.

The competition, held in association with Uxbridge College, acknowledges the hard work, dedication and courage shown by people who live or work in Hillingdon and have put others first, overcome adversity, or made an outstanding contribution to the community.

This week, Janice Andrews was nominated for her commitment towards Ruislip skate park, as well as many other projects in the area for young people and the elderly.

A MAN found guilty of failing to stop after running over teenager Simmone Hedges will be sentenced tomorrow (Wednesday)

Rati Suladze, 35, of The Larches, Hillingdon, will face Magistrate's at Hendon Magistrate's Court at 2pm who will decide whether or not to impose a custodial sentence.

Mr Suladze, from Georgia, was also found guilty of failing to report the accident which took place on November 21 last year.
